Weekend Getaways
Siena
Siena is located right in the heart of Tuscany, and it is simply the best place to base yourself for that delightful Tuscan experience. Through the years, it has been able to keep its typical medieval appearance untouched, still with its narrow alleys and noble palaces that are all in all surrounded by a beautiful hill landscape. Siena is an architectural fascination blending within the background of superb natural beauty that are all easy to reach . As a matter of fact, there are only a few geographical areas in the world that can boast a variety of environment such as that of Siena.
To the north of Siena, you will find the richness of the Chianti landscape draping with vines and olive-trees all throughout the hills, and the beautiful towns of San Gimignano and Monteriggioni. Meanwhile, to the South of Siena, there is the Arbia valley which leads to the hill-top town of Montalcino. This is the world famous home to the Brunello wine. On to the West, you will experience Sienna's coast which is home to the captivating coastline town of Castiglione della Pescaia.
But most of all, what lies at the heart of the city itself (that draws together everything else) is the Piazza del Campo. This serves as the cultural landmark of the place and as far as it is concerned, all roads go uphill and downhill, some of them steep, narrow, but they all have one thing in common – they all lead to the Piazza del Campo.
Witness all the drama that happens in Siena. Let your presence jive with nature, come up with an unforgettable mental movie, and keep it in your memory forever.
