Weekend Getaways

TechnoBerlin - The city that never sleeps – although this saying was meant to describe New York it also perfectly depicts Berlin – city of perpetual fun and artistic decadence.

BerlinBerlin will enthuse the young and the old, searchers of tradition and those who look for avant-garde. The reason of that is the fact that the city is simply huge.

You can travel around the German capital on a rented velocipede although a ship and a balloon are considered as more exotic forms of tourism. The town built on marsh cross-over kilometers of canals on the river Spree. It is worth to go on a few hours cruise on one of the ships; the captains entertain guests with numerous anecdotes about the history of Berlin. The balloon takes off in the neighborhood of the Potsdamer Platz. The 'controlled flight' (the basket is attached to the ground on a rope) lasts about 20 minutes and the maximal height is 150 meters.

Berlin TechnoNew exhibitions, plays' premiers, famous artists' gigs and concerts – this is what Berlin is all about. To find out more about all the attractions you need a good guide. I suggest a monthly magazine called Berliner Programm; it costs only 1,75 euro.

Finally we should spend at least one evening experiencing Berlin at night. Apart from the well known clubs such as Sage Club or Kit Kat Club every month there are new bars and clubs opened. The top ones are located on Prenzlauer Berg, Mitte and Friedrichshain. If you look for extra stimulation, pop into the Dos Piranhas on Kreuzberg and face real piranhas.

Cos every occasion is good to get away, to relax and have fun!
