Paris is undeniably one of the most popular destinations of the world. And how could it not be, when it has 2000 years worth of history all reflected in its world-famous monuments, museums, picturesque places, and other unforgettable places for walks and visits.
Without a doubt, its most famous wonder is the Eiffel Tower, which was built for the International Exhibition of Paris in the year 1889. It was used for commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution. During its pre-construction period, around 700 proposals were submitted just for the design alone. Nonetheless, it was the Architect/Engineer Gustave Eiffel's out-of-the-box design that was unanimously chosen, thus the tower’s name. It was The Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII of England) himself who opened the tower. At present, the Eiffel Tower has already mesmerized over 200 million visitors since it first opened its doors on 1889.
Other places of interest in Paris that are a common household name by now for everyone include the Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe, Sacre Coeur, Arche de la Defense, Place de la Republiquel, Place des Vosges and Place des Victoires. There are also some popular Islands here like the Ile de la Cite and Ile Saint Louis.The geographical centre of Paris, which is the "Ile de la Cite", has a prestigious history from the Celtic people to the French kings. There are examplary bridges as well, such as the Pont Alexandre III, Pont des Arts, Pont-Neuf, Pont Royal and Pont Sully.
Paris is also known as a historical and cultural center. In here can be found the Picasso Museum, Grevin Museum, Chateau de Versailles, and the acclaimed Louvre Museum which has been the center of enigma on many Hollywood movies.
Paris is also one of the most fashionable cities in the entire Europe, and in the entire world for that matter. This is really not a place to be a fashion taboo. But Paris is about being yourself, being artistic, and carefree. Perhaps it wouldn’t matter much if you wore something entirely different from that of the latest magazines. What’s important is for you to enjoy the magnificence of the place.
